Consistency - a secret to success

Hey what’s up!?

It’s Mike!! And… this really isn’t a fitness post… well… it kind of is… I guess… anyways, it’s my first post on the new site and I really just wanted to hit on one of the fundamental aspects of success, CONSISTENCY.

Now if you don’t know me very well (you should read the coaches bio on the site…) I am a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.

Why am I telling you this? You guessed it!! Marines schedules are super consistent.

It’s what makes them so successful!

You wake up at the same times, eat the same meals and do the same job, EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Now yes, this does get boring at times but so does everything that doesn’t challenge us.

Consistency is what allows new challenges to come into our life, should we choose to accept them.

All successful people have some sort of routine they do, EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

They do this to allow for other challenges to arise in their life so they can accept them and become even more successful.

Doing the same sh%t every day allows you to become a master of your domain. Creating a stable environment you can flourish in.

Sounds easy right? Well yeah… it is! But, also it isn’t…

In order to be consistent, you don't tell your friends, family or your dog.. (ok you can tell your dog but that’s it!) you just… do it.

Every day. Every week. Every month.

Until you wake up and before you even open your eyes you’re already making your coffee with MCT oil and grass-fed butter and telling Alexa to play Jack Johnson on volume 3 while you write down what you are thankful for before you head to the gym to stretch or do light lifting or running… Well, that’s part of my routine anyway.

I do that, EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Just as I said, I wake up, brew coffee, write down what I am thankful for, write down my actions for the morning, go to the gym, get in the sauna for 20 minutes. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Yes… we are all human and there will always be days we “Just can’t even" and that’s ok…

Just get back on track the next day and the day after that… and that… and that…

Creating a consistent foundation is the most important thing you can do for yourself because it will become the backbone you can rely on.

When you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed with life, you know you have your routine to align you back on track.

Start small and try waking up at the same time, EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Once that becomes easy, maybe try adding another portion to your routine.

The biggest misconception is that there isn’t a 21 day habit ritual where life all of a sudden becomes easy after a duration of time. It’s a lifestyle change and it becomes YOU!

If you want to become successful or at least achieve some sort of structure in your life that I promise will make you feel better and more fulfilled, work on your CONSISTENT routine.

Other than that, I gotta get up early to go to the gym in the morning and get my sauna on!!

Hope this helps!!

Oh yeah!!! This is the first Fit Journal post on BarBreaker.com!! Let me know what you think and send me some topics to write about.

Much love,

-Mike
